Home... only four little letters, but an enormous word.  As Mother's Day approaches, our thoughts often wander down the path towards home.  The place where we were raised and loved.

"Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts."--Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

We, at MSLC, specialize in homes.  Cute little cabins to beautiful large houses; but these are just structures and it is up to you to turn them into... Home.  As a wife and mother, I enjoy making our house a home.  Mothers have a unique way of doing this.  Sometimes it is called adding a woman's touch or even, creating the heart of the home.  Whatever you want to call it, it is real, and important and appreciated.  We want to thank all of you moms out there and wish you a very Happy Mother's Day!
"Love begins by taking care of the closest ones - the ones at home."-- Mother Teresa

Did You Know?
  • During the 1600's, England celebrated a day called "Mothering Sunday", a time put aside for relaxation and enjoyment.   Servants would go home to see their families, bringing cakes and sweets to their moms. This custom was called "going a-mothering". Each mother would receive a simnel-cake (Latin for "fine flour) and mother's would give a blessing to their children.
  • The first Mother's Day was May 10, 1908; Founded by Anna Jarvis; made a national holiday in 1914 by President Wilson
  • In the vast majority of the world’s languages, the word for “mother” begins with the letter M.

Small Spaces

Tiny homes and small spaces can still offer us loads of function and appeal.  You may need to think outside the box and get creative, but this can be lots of fun.  Here are some space saving ideas.
Look Up! When designing or building your tiny home or cabin, consider adding a lofted shelf above the door.  This is a great space for added storage of seasonal or bulky items.
Custom Niche Don't overlook that space above the toilet!  This is a super spot for building custom shelving for storing toiletries and towels.
Barn Doors This is a really neat look and provides privacy without requiring space for a swinging door, by mounting a barn inspired rolling track!
Backless Bench By replacing several chairs with a bench at the table, you can offer several seating spots with less space.  This is a great option if you have children at home.  When not in use, simply tuck it under the table for more room.

Thank you for taking the time to get together. I know Home is important to you and you help make it a special place. As always, we'd like to help if we can. Please give us a call with any questions or when you are ready to begin that special project. 406-847-2316 / mtspecialtylogblog@gmail.com
