Fall, Family & Favorite Things

Brr... fall is in the air; have you felt it?  I love the crisp mountain air, the golden hues amidst the trees and being able to don my favorite sweaters.  Fall also involves planning large family gatherings, sipping hot coffee by a crackling fire with your best friend and taking in the scents of freshly baked goodies wafting through the house. Cozy!
At my house, cozy, is sometimes code word for, "tight fit" & "I wish I had more room." Can you relate?  I honestly enjoy feeding my whole clan and making room around the table for everyone.  We always make it work and squeeze together.  Yet, sometimes it would be nice to have more room.  As our family grows, I envision a great big dining room and maybe even an extra large kitchen.  A place where all my daughters (and future daughter-in-laws) can happily work together preparing the feast.
Sounds like an addition is in order, don't you think?  Really, I love my little cabin, but an addition is in the plans one of these days.  I happen to know some really great guys who know logs! Here are some pictures of an addition going on right down the road.  The Clark Fork Project!  You can follow along on our FB page as well as our Homes in Progress Page right here on our website.
Fall seems to be a good time to sit back and appreciate all your accomplishments from summer's long days.  Maybe it's all the produce from your garden,  completed projects you finished up during the warm weather, or all the wood you've gotten in for this winter.  Fall just seems to be a season for feeling thankful.  It can also be a great time for dreaming up new projects!  Things we didn't quite fit in this summer, will be perfect for planning next year.  Let's plan together, shall we?
Food Lore:  Did You Know?  It was once thought that you must always stir the cake batter in one direction or you would spoil the cake!
